Mostly sparse and still, this work balances notated and structured material with spaces provided for the soloists to be able to improvise, and develop already written ideas.
At times contrapuntal, Still Point is in places punctuated by a dirge-like chant.

Reflections and historical

“No more music for kids” I had promised myself; I could not afford to get distracted from my fictitious/imaginary ‘serious’ writing projects by composing any more works for kids, yet, it was in response to a possible fund-raising concert with the New Gen Phil, and my idea of asking Craig Walters to play with us that this work came to pass. The parameters I set myself were simple: -simple, still, with plenty of space for Craig to improvise –a ‘quickie’, as it were, given the lack of repertoire we could get ready in time for the concert. Once again, it took on a life of it’s own, and allowed me the space to express/explore some of my own inner necessities.
